There is a crisp chill in the air, plenty of leaves to sniff and maybe most importantly for Bandit, it means one of her favourite seasonal recipes. Although Bandit is now an elderly dog (recently celebrating her 15th birthday!) and her eyes can&#8217;t see as well as they used to, her nose will always lead her to the smell of treats baking in the oven!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Her butternut squash and apple muffins make the perfect Thanksgiving treat for your four legged friend. They have a very soft texture, which is perfect for elderly or smaller dogs that may have a little trouble chewing harder or crunchier treats. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">These treats are also packed full of nutrients, with butternut squash providing plenty of vitamins and minerals known to help improve eyesight as dogs age, and apples providing high levels of fibre and vitamins C and A that encourage healthy digestion and help strengthen your dog\u2019s immune system. Plus, they\u2019re also full of tasty flavour!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1250 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe1-1.jpg?w=680\" alt=\"recipe1-1\" width=\"402\" height=\"317\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe1-1.jpg 964w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe1-1-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe1-1-768x605.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 402px) 100vw, 402px\" \/>Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">600g butternut squash, peeled and diced <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1 coarsely grated apple (ensure no apple pips are present)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">120g of rolled oats<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">150g of rice flour<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1 tbsp of rapeseed oil<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1 tbsp of ginger<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1 tbsp of ground cinnamon<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">120ml milk<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight:400\"><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1 egg<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Method:<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">1.Preheat your oven to 190C<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1251 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe2-1.jpg\" alt=\"recipe2-1\" width=\"318\" height=\"281\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe2-1.jpg 861w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe2-1-300x265.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe2-1-768x678.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>2. Peel your butternut squash, slice into small cubes and place on a baking tray lined with a baking sheet. Bake for 15 mins then remove from the oven and allow to fully cool.<\/p>\n<p>3. Mix the flour, oats, cinnamon, ginger and grated apple in a bowl.<\/p>\n<p>4. Once the butternut squash has cooled, add the\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight:400\">squash, oil, milk and egg into a blender and blend until it forms a smooth consistency. (If you don\u2019t have a blender, you can mash the butternut squash with a fork and then stir the other wet <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1253 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe4-1.jpg?w=680\" alt=\"recipe4-1\" width=\"318\" height=\"282\" srcset=\"https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe4-1.jpg 859w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe4-1-300x265.jpg 300w, https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/recipe4-1-768x679.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 318px) 100vw, 318px\" \/><br \/>\ningredients in).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>5. Make a small circular well in the\u00a0<span style=\"font-weight:400\">middle of the\u00a0dry\u00a0mix and pour in the wet mixture from the blender. Stir to form a soft dough.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">6. Once a dough is formed, gently roll small amounts in your hands to create little ball shapes. Place the balls on a baking tray lined with fresh baking paper. Add a little extra flour to help any excess stickiness.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">7.
