It wouldn\u2019t be Christmas without a vast array of home baked cookies and desserts being passed around whilst you watch your favourite festive movie on TV. You can imagine the extra twitching of canine noses even more than usual, in case there may be some stray cookie crumbs to nibble. If you enjoy baking and fancy making some healthy yuletide treats for your pooch, you might like to give this recipe a try.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/b><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0625 grams of flour<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a080 grams of rolled oats<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a02-1\/4 cups water<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a05 large carrots, finely shredded<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a02\/3 cup peanut butter<\/span>
\n<\/span>* \u00a0\u00a0Christmas tree shaped cookie cutter<\/span><\/p>\n

Carrots are a fantastic low calorie snack for dogs, and provide many nutritional benefits. Carrots are high in beta-carotene and vitamin A, which helps support the immune system and also your dog\u2019s skin and coat. Peanut butter contains a great level of protein, vitamins and healthy fats. A little goes a long way, and as with humans, peanut butter should still be consumed in moderation.<\/span><\/p>\n

Preparation:<\/b><\/p>\n

Preheat your oven to 180 celsius and line an oven tray with baking paper. Add the flour and oats to a large mixing bowl, then add water and start to stir. Grate the carrots until they are finely shredded and add to the mix, along with the peanut butter. Continue to stir until a sturdy thick dough is formed. Roll out the dough to desired thickness on a floured surface.<\/span><\/p>\n

Using your Christmas tree cookie cutter, you can now start to place the cutter into the dough to create your tree treats. Once molded from the dough, place the tree shapes on the baking tray. Depending on the size of your cookie cutter, you should be able to make roughly between 15-20 treats. Bake for approximately 20-25 minutes. The trees should turn to a nice, golden brown colour. Once ready, please set aside the treats to cool off before feeding to your first willing canine taste tester.<\/span><\/p>\n
