We know that the weather outside is frightful, and the fire is so delightful, but some of the best times to experience the outdoors can be when the ground is frosty and the trees are bare. We know it\u2019s cold, but if you\u2019re armed with your scarf, hat, earmuffs and boots, you and your dog can plan yourselves a great winter day out.<\/p>\n

1. Bounding across the beach<\/b><\/p>\n

The beach isn\u2019t just for summer. The fresh sea air blows away the cobwebs as you walk along the shore and leaves you with rosy cheeks. It\u2019s also a great place for dogs to burn off energy with a huge amount of space to run around, dig and play with other dogs. Most beaches are dog-friendly during the winter months and you can let your dog off the lead, but make sure you check beforehand, just in case.<\/p>\n

2. Exploring an old castle<\/b><\/p>\n

Fancy more of an adventure? With lots of grounds to explore, you and your dog can get a whole lot of exercise and fresh air. Plus, you can immerse yourself in history and culture and maybe even learn something you didn\u2019t know before. Whilst lots of old castle ruins are totally open to the public, check beforehand to see if the grounds are dog-friendly.<\/p>\n

3. Strolling through a country park<\/b><\/p>\n

Now that it\u2019s winter and there aren\u2019t any picnics to interrupt or steal, it\u2019s great to venture around some local greenery. Many country parks in the UK have vast green areas that are perfect for running around and exploring, just be mindful of the environment and local wildlife, you don\u2019t want another Fenton on your hands\u2026<\/p>\n

4. Trekking through your local woods<\/b><\/p>\n

If you go down to the woods today, you\u2019re in for a great day out\u2026 The Forestry Commission has hundreds of miles to explore all over the UK and can keep you and your dog active and entertained for hours. Make sure you know when you need to have your dog on the lead, and always look after the environment by picking up after your dog.<\/p>\n

5. Warming up in the pub<\/b><\/p>\n

The only thing better than cosying up in a warm pub is cosying up in a warm pub with your furry friend by your side. There are plenty of pubs that allow dogs to visit, and many are very accommodating and provide water and treats too.<\/p>\n
