What\u2019s a Jubilee without a feast? With street parties, wedding brunches and picnics being planned we couldn\u2019t leave our canine companions out of the equation. Our head nutritionist Sam has given us a few favourite recipes for your doggies to enjoy on the big day. Fun fact; Sam has actually worked with several of the Royal Household’s dogs and even designed their diets.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Dog-friendly savoury egg muffin bites<\/span><\/h2>\n

These make a delicious savoury treat for our doggies, packed with fibre from the sweet potato and high in protein they always go down a treat whenever we make a batch and we\u2019ve even been known to sneak one or two ourselves – sharing is caring, right?!<\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/p>\n

150g grated sweet potato (usually around 1 medium sweet potato)<\/p>\n

30g grated cheddar cheese<\/p>\n

3 tbsp diced ham<\/p>\n

4 large eggs<\/p>\n

2 tsp chopped parsley<\/p>\n

Method:<\/p>\n

Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C<\/p>\n

Lightly grease a 12 cup small muffin tin.<\/p>\n

Mix grated sweet potato, cheese and ham together.<\/p>\n

In a separate bowl break eggs and beat with a fork, add in chopped parsley<\/p>\n

Add the cheese, potato, and ham to the egg mix<\/p>\n

Pour the mixture evenly into each muffin cup.<\/p>\n

Bake for 10-15 minutes, until eggs are set and not too wobbly.<\/p>\n

Allow to cool for 10 mins before removing from tray to cool completely on a wire rack. Let your pooch tuck in straight away or keep in the fridge.<\/p>\n

Refreshing ‘cocktail’ cubes\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Ice cubes and frozen smoothie treats have become a firm favourite at Tails HQ. Whilst our doggies can\u2019t join us in celebrating over a drink or two we have some refreshing quick and easy ice cube recipes for them to enjoy – cheers!<\/p>\n

A healthy treat with your Tails.com kibble<\/span><\/h4>\n

Yes, that’s right, simply grab an ice cube tray, pop a few pieces of kibble in each cup, fill with water and freeze. Serve up for the perfect treat to keep your doggie occupied – this makes a great treat if you are trying to watch their daily calorie intake.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"Carrot super smoothie\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Providing a good source of beta-carotene and fibre, doggies also love the sweetness of the carrot here. Blend 1 carrot with 1\/2cup water and \u00bd cup low salt chicken stock – freeze and use as a refreshing treat to cool down with on a hot day<\/span><\/p>\n

The ultimate breath freshener\u00a0<\/span><\/h4>\n

Blend 100g fresh parsley with 1 cup low salt chicken stock, pour into an ice cube tray and freeze for some seriously green goodness. Our doggies love these and parsley is fantastic for fresh breath.<\/span><\/p>\n

As with all treats please ensure they are given under supervision<\/span><\/p>\n

The main event – a dog-friendly Jubilee cake<\/h2>\n

Here is our favourite dog-friendly cake recipe, to make it extra wedding-worthy we added some dog-friendly icing (pure natural yogurt – without added sugar or sweeteners) and dog-friendly flowers<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ingredients:<\/p>\n

1egg<\/p>\n

65g peanut butter (xylitol and palm oil free)<\/p>\n

3tbsp cup vegetable oil<\/p>\n

1teaspoon vanilla extract<\/p>\n

2tbsp honey (optional)<\/p>\n

1cup carrot, grated<\/p>\n

125g whole wheat flour (or suitable grain-free alternative if required)<\/p>\n

Method:<\/p>\n

Preheat oven to 175 degrees C (or 350 degrees F)<\/p>\n

Grease and line a 7inch cake tin or a 9 cup cupcake tray<\/p>\n

Mix the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey until fully combined<\/p>\n

Add in the grated carrot.<\/p>\n

Sift the flour and fold into the wet mixture<\/p>\n

Spoon cake batter into the prepared tin<\/p>\n

Bake for 40 minutes (20-30 if using cupcake tin).<\/p>\n

Let cake cool in the tin for 10-15 minutes; then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely before optional icing and decorations, we love using our Good Dog Treats for extra decoration too.<\/p>\n
