There are plenty of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">dog food additives<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> \u2013 essential minerals and vitamins \u2013 that are highly beneficial for dogs, are natural ingredients, and also have an <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E number<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. Vitamin C, for instance, is E300, found naturally in carrots. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Are <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E numbers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> harmful for dogs?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Not all <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E numbers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are artificial colours and flavours, and not all <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E numbers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> are bad. In many cases, the opposite is true: any ingredient with an <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E number<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> has been tested and approved for use in human food, and the amount is restricted to levels that are known to be safe. So in some ways these tested and regulated ingredients are safer than other natural ingredients, which can be included in any amount.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Do <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E numbers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> have the same effect in dogs as in humans?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There are studies that associate certain artificial food colourants with hyperactivity in children \u2013 which is where <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">E numbers<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> get their bad reputation.
