So today, we\u2019re going to talk you through whether you should give your dog pasta &#8211; and how to keep it dog-friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-nutritional-value-does-it-have\">What nutritional value does it have?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Fresh pasta is an incredibly simple thing to make and contains some natural ingredients that are dog-friendly. Eggs contain plenty of protein, while the flour has some healthy carbohydrates to help give your dog some long-term energy. Just keep in mind that pasta is calorie dense, so it&#8217;s good to feed in moderation. The next time you cook up some pasta for yourself, as long as it\u2019s within your <a href=\"https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/09\/how-many-treats-should-i-give-my-dog\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">dog\u2019s calorie count<\/a>, why don\u2019t you cook a little extra and share it with them?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It&#8217;s important to remember <strong>we\u2019re talking about plain pasta here<\/strong>. It\u2019s not worth risking feeding your dog pasta that\u2019s been cooked in a sauce as, while they\u2019ll find it very tasty, a lot of ingredients can go into those sauces including <a href=\"https:\/\/tails.com\/blog\/2018\/05\/01\/food-harmful-to-dogs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">onions and garlic<\/a>, and these are not very good for your dog\u2019s digestion, so to be safe, stick to plain boiled pasta &#8211; they\u2019ll still love it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Can I get dog food with pasta in it?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As a matter of fact, at <a href=\"http:\/\/tails.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">tails.com<\/a>, we\u2019ve developed two delicious recipes for dogs that incorporate pasta. This can present as loose stools, itching and dermatitis, diarrhoea and weight loss and if you suspect your dog or puppy is having issues with gluten, stop feeding them pasta (or any other gluten-infused products) straight away and consult your vet.
