However, is it ok to share your prawns with your pooch? In this blog post, we\u2019ll find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-the-pungent-prawn\">The pungent prawn<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As we know, dogs have an amazing sense of smell that puts our own sniffers to shame. They get incredibly excited by aromas and if there\u2019s one thing a prawn has in abundance, it\u2019s an aroma. While those of us who don\u2019t like shellfish find them to be among the most off-putting scents, seafood lovers find the odour to be delicious and dog\u2019s do too. That will explain why, if you regularly cook prawns in your kitchen, your dog will be so interested in them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The raw truth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Yes, it is okay to feed your dog prawns, but <strong>only if they have been shelled and cooked.<\/strong> A raw prawn straight from the fish counter at your local supermarket or fishmonger can cause a dog\u2019s digestive system no end of problems, and that hard shell can be a real choking hazard so we recommend never feeding your dog a prawn that has not been shelled. Furthermore, like all raw fish or meat, there are inherent risks of bacteria dwelling in the flesh that cooking will kill off. Oh, and make sure your prawns haven\u2019t gone off as, even with cooking, this will cause both you and your dog to be rather ill and no-one wants that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But if you\u2019ve shelled, deveined and boiled up your prawns, then you can indeed feed the occasional one to your dog. This shouldn\u2019t be a regular part of your dog\u2019s diet but if they have earned a tasty treat, one or two every now and again won\u2019t hurt them, and they can enjoy devouring that delicious morsel.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fabulous fish<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Seafood can be tricky as some seafood isn&#8217;t dog-friendly. Fish, on the other hand, is really healthy and packed with nutritional value &#8211; perfect for our dogs!
