It\u2019s worth all of those hours peeling potatoes, preparing the meat, chopping the vegetables. And while you\u2019re cooking away, it\u2019s likely that your four-legged friend will be dutifully watching over you, desperate to sample the treats that you\u2019re preparing. But is it ok to share your Sunday roast with your dog? Let\u2019s find out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-a-dog-friendly-roast-dinner\">How to make a dog-friendly roast dinner<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here&#8217;s what to avoid:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>No onions in the gravy or veg &#8211; they\u2019re really not good for your dog<\/li><li>No garlic or mushrooms either &#8211; as above, keep them away from this meal<\/li><li>Fatty meats &#8211; these aren\u2019t good for your dog\u2019s weight so leave them out<\/li><li>Swap out the goose fat &#8211; use olive oil instead and use it sparingly. Better still, new potatoes are\u00a0 a lot healthier than roasties<\/li><li>Too many trimmings &#8211; Yorkshire puddings and stuffing are fatty and don\u2019t provide much in the way of nutrition at all. Stuffing usually includes onion which is an ingredient to avoid!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Here\u2019s what to include:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Lean meat &#8211; chicken or turkey are a good idea, or a lean cut of lamb will do too<\/li><li>Peas and carrots &#8211; both of these are great for your dog and you too<\/li><li>Reduced salt gravy &#8211; check the ingredients to make sure it\u2019s ok for your dog<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So how does a roast chicken dinner with new potatoes, carrots, peas and gravy sound? As delicious as it is to us, your dog will love it too.
