Are you ready to do something amazing this autumn? Join us in Dementia UK\u2019s October Dog Walking Challenge<\/a>! We\u2019ll be teaming up with our dogs to walk 100km across the month and raise funds for Dementia UK, the specialist dementia nursing charity, to hire more specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, who are a lifeline to families affected by the condition. Time to dust off those hiking boots\u2026. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walk 100km for a great cause <\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

With the October Dog Walking Challenge, Dementia UK<\/a> is inviting dog owners to make every walk count. We’ll be supporting this year\u2019s event and we\u2019re inviting all of you, our customers, to join us in raising funds to help Dementia UK support families facing the fear and confusion of dementia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Our tails.com pack is so pleased to be supporting Dementia UK for this year’s October Dog Walking challenge. As dog owners, we know getting out with your dog is a great way to spend quality time together, and being able to support such an important cause at the same time means so much to many of our team,” said Lina Merouani, who’s been working closely with the Dementia UK team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ll be hitting the local park, exploring new hikes and more\u2026How will you<\/em> complete your 100km? Feel free to spread those steps across the month, wherever and whenever you like!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Making sure no one faces dementia alone<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Every three minutes, someone in the UK develops dementia. Half of us will be affected by it at some point in our lives \u2013 whether we are diagnosed with dementia ourselves, or care for a loved one with the condition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every step you take and every penny you raise will help Dementia UK grow the number of dementia specialist Admiral Nurses. As experts in the condition, they provide life-changing support for families affected by dementia. They work on Dementia UK\u2019s free national Helpline, in virtual and face-to-face clinics, and in communities throughout the UK, helping families through the fear and confusion of dementia. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our own dogs bring us so much love, they mean the world to us. That\u2019s why we\u2019re dedicated to improving the lives of dogs and their owners, and supporting charities<\/a> that do so. Did you know dogs can also bring great comfort to people living with dementia, helping preserve or even improve their confidence, communication skills and general quality of life? <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since its launch in 2021, Dementia UK\u2019s Dog Walking Challenge has raised over \u00a34.3million. They still need our help (and yours!) to ensure that there is a specialist dementia nurse for every family who needs one. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Walk the walk and spread the word<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Every walk counts. 100km might seem like a lot, but you can do it your way! Take a stroll around your neighbourhood, explore a new park, visit a friend on a sunny day\u2026 It all adds up. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
