Why does my dog lick me?

While not everyone is a fan of that great slobbery tongue greeting us when we return to the house, dog owners are not only used to it, but most know it for what it truly is – a sign of affection. A dog licking you is part of their love language and in this short blog post, we’ll dive a little deeper into why your dog loves to lick you.

It goes back hundreds of thousands of years

The reasons dogs lick the people they care about comes right from their years of early evolution all those eons ago. Puppies would lick their mothers to get them to regurgitate food for them, and while that notion might not be the most palatable, it’s not something you have to worry about now, especially with the puppy food recipes available today. It’s very good for bonding and social strengthening and as we said, it’s a sign that they love you, so you should be very happy about your dog’s licking.

They only thing we’d say is that it’s probably not best to let them lick your face too much, especially when you consider some of the things dogs like to eat, but other than that, it’s a part of who they are and their way of showing they care about you.

  2. It’s only taken 9 years to find a yummy & appealing as well as complete game changer food for my dog. He always grazed & still kind of does, or he’d go hungry because he simply didn’t like what was in his bowl. but eats every meal
From tails.com. He also does not struggle having his daily poos now either.
