Our ingredients
Better ingredients mean tastier food
Our vets and nutritionists choose each ingredient for the specific nutrients it provides - to give your dog the nutrition they need. All our ingredients are sourced in the UK and the EU.
Meat and fish
Meat and fish are a natural source of protein and fatty acids like omega-3 and omega-6. And they help give our recipes the hearty flavour dogs love.
Lamb fat complements the fresh lamb we use in some of our kibbles. Not only is it super tasty, it’s energy-dense, and provides those essential fatty acids - important for healthy skin and a glossy coat.
Gravy makes for a delicious coating - we add a dash to our kibbles while they’re cooling. Our lamb gravy is made with meat and offal, to give it that rich, meaty aroma dogs love.
An excellent source of protein and omega-3, salmon is gentle on digestion too. It’s high in B vitamins, vitamin D, selenium, and potassium. And it contains the antioxidant astaxanthin, which gives salmon that pink colour - and supports your dog’s skin, brain, and neural system.
Chicken is gentle on the stomach and a delicious source of protein for dogs - just as it is for humans. It contains an impressive array of amino acids, is rich in omega-6 and a good source of minerals, particularly selenium. Not only that, it’s low in saturated fats too - another big nutritional win.
Vegetables and grains
Lots of root vegetables and wholegrains. Great sources of carbohydrates for energy, fibre to aid digestion, and a wide range of other nutrients.
Peas are full of antioxidants, fibre, and a wide range of nutrients such as manganese, folate, and vitamins C, K and B1. Who’d have thought it?
Beet pulp is great for the gut. As a source of soluble and insoluble fibres, it works with your dog’s digestive system to increase satiety, and improve stools - to name just a few.
Potatoes are an easily digestible carbohydrate, with vitamins C, B3 and B6, as well as potassium - good for energy production and supporting the immune system. Potato also contains carotenoids such as lutein, zexanthin, and violaxanthin, which are powerful antioxidants.
Not just super healthy for humans, brown rice is great for dogs too. It’s easily digestible (thanks to folate), low fat, and an excellent source of manganese and fibre.
Good old-fashioned oats. A source of fibre and carbohydrate, omega-6 and beta-glucans. And that’s just for starters - they’re also full of micronutrients, including manganese selenium, vitamin B1, magnesium and phosphorus.
For slow-release energy and stable blood sugar levels, all day long. Sweet potatoes are a good source of fibre, potassium and vitamins A and C too.
Carrots are a good source of beta carotene, which is both an antioxidant and helps your dog produce vitamin A. Raw carrots can help clean your dog's teeth - and we also love to use them as a healthy snack for the office dogs of tails.com. Crunch, crunch.
Vitamins and minerals
